WHAT: The third annual Quad Cities Cybersecurity Conference & Kids Hacker Camp, better known as CornCon, was founded in 2015 by the Quad Cities Cybersecurity Alliance, in a partnership with the IEEE Computer Society and St. Ambrose University with the mission of raising cybersecurity awareness among adults and children. The event provides local businesses, IT professionals, students, and the general public with the opportunity to interact with security executives and how to prepare and defend against cybersecurity threats.

While the first day offers professional development workshops, Day Two focuses on providing children with the opportunity to learn about the field of cybersecurity with a kid’s hacker camp,  “The Children of the CornCon.” The conference will introduce 100 kids to two dozen STEM-related activities, including: lockpicking, coding, electronics, cryptography, privacy and the ethical use of technology.

NorthStar Co-Founder, Sarah Isaacs, will also discuss the barriers and opportunities facing underrepresented communities during the “Diversity in Cybersecurity” panel.
